Abstract: A simple and efficient method to achieve the amidation of aldehydes with amines is developed, generating a wide range of secondary amides (41 examples) and tertiary amides (16 examples). This protocol employs a readily available compound n-BuLi as the catalyst and operates under mild, ambient conditions without the need for any additive or external oxidant. Notably, it enables the efficient amidation of primary amines while effectively outcompeting undesired competing condensation reactions.
